About this deal

Jameson Triple Triple with tonic and grapefruit is a match made in heaven. The delicate dry notes of Triple Triple play beautifully with the sweet grapefruit, while the tonic water provides just the right amount of effervescence. The name ‘Triple Triple’ refers to both the triple cask maturation and Jameson’s status as a triple-distilled Irish whiskey. The spices and cereals drive the finish, which is of decent length. This is particularly true once the sweeter and fruitier elements fade, and this gives the whiskey a pleasant bittersweetness and grip on the taste buds. Jameson’s latest foray into travel retail comes in form of the Jameson Triple Triple – triple distilled as per, but now with an additional cask component of Malaga wine added to ex-bourbon and ex-sherry. Malaga wine, hails from Spain – the most widely planted wine producing nation in the world - though overall yields still put it behind France and Italy in terms of volume. The Malaga region (situated just to the East of Gibraltar) is known for its production of sweet, fortified wines made from Moscatel and Pedro Ximenez grapes. Despite the fact that the two grape varietals are grow throughout the region, all Malaga wines are aged in Malaga City itself.

This new expression of Jameson is easy drinking, soft and deliciously rich. The warming spices and gingerbread/cake notes combine wonderfully with the juicy and jammy characteristics of tropical and stone fruits. The three cask maturation, and the inclusion of the ex-Malaga wine casks in particular, seem to have helped accentuate all of these elements. Apple orchards and bails of hay mingle with almonds, spice, chocolate, and a hint of lemon oil on the nose. Dark chocolate and a note of woody spices mingle on the palate with creamed honey and a whisper of espresso cream. The end brings about a note of butterscotch next to a milkier chocolate smoothness that leads to a finish that’s part of spiced wood and part bitter espresso bean, creating a spiced-mocha-latte-spiked-with-whiskey vibe. Today, I’m ranking all the current core expressions from Jameson. As with any whiskey brand, the core line is almost constantly in flux, with new expressions dropping throughout the year(s) to bolster the perennials. Jameson is always trying new things with its line and right now is a great time to dive in. Especially for fans of unique barreling programs. Jameson Triple Triple rather surprised me with its genuinely different take on an industry stalwart bottling. The Malaga wine cask has added some real berry sweetness to the underlying pot still and grain whiskey composition resulting in an expression which feels transformed enough to merit its own bottling. This said, whilst the flavour profile has been changed up, the quality level is, as you might expect, very similar to the standard Jameson’s expression. Sure it’s ‘smooth’ (one could equally say underpowered), but it’s also uneven and at times uneasily youthful (particularly the grain component). No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service. Jameson Triple Triple and Jameson original Irish whiskey have a similar triple distillation process, but Jameson Triple Triple is a triple threat. Billy Leighton, Jameson master blender, said: ‘Our single pot still and single grain Irish whiskeys have been further enhanced through triple cask maturation to create an exciting new taste experience.’ Jameson Irish Whiskey is one of the most popular whiskeys on the planet, not to mention a “gateway whiskey” for many whiskey lovers. It’s also one of the world’s fastest-growing whiskey brands— in that it produces multiple expressions under the Jameson banner. Pernod Ricard’s Irish Distillers unit has unveiled a new global travel retail-exclusive Irish whiskey, called Jameson Triple Triple. Jameson Triple Triple will help boost the brand’s presence in global travel retail Jameson Triple Triple is being released (right about now) across global travel retail. The expression is bottled at 40% ABV and comes in a litre bottle with an RRP of €32. Good things comes in threes” Jameson claims in regards to their newly released bottling “Triple Triple”. One of the triples of course refers to the triple distilling normally utilized in Ireland. The second triple points to the three types of casks being blended together; ex-bourbon, ex-Sherry and Malaga seasoned casks. That bitter char comes through on the nose with a subtle espresso bean oiliness next to almost burnt buttery toffee and a touch of walnut. The palate builds on that nuttiness to the point of a walnut cake full of Karo syrup, plenty of dark holiday spices, and a touch of vanilla pudding. The end really amps that vanilla up to the point that you’re almost chewing on vanilla tobacco while the wood comes in with a dry cigar box vibe next to ground winter spices, more nuttiness, and a hint of dry straw in an old fruit orchard.
